Mary Sew - Owner and Operator of The Physio Group

Mary Sew

Mary is a disciplined student of physiotherapy and her variety of skill designations is evidence of her passion. Mary’s journey began when she graduated from McGill’s Physiotherapy program in 1989. A decade later, she was awarded the diploma of Manipulative Therapy and become a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapists. Yearning for more, Mary continued to enhance her base of knowledge by studying traditional Chinese acupuncture resulting in a certificate of Medical Acupuncture from the University of Alberta in 2001. Having both Eastern and Western education, Mary wanted to further reconcile the two therapeutic approaches. From there, she continued studies with Dr. Chan Gunn, receiving her certificate of Gunn IMS in 2002.

Experience and Current Practice

Mary has over 25 years of private practice experience in treating adult orthopaedic and neurological conditions. As a student of lifelong learning, her continuing education includes courses in Concussion management, BPPV and Dizziness, TMJ disorders, a Pilates approach to Physiotherapy, and Ergonomics. As an avid recreational athlete Mary draws from her own experiences with running ½ marathons, kayaking, backpacking/hiking and biking, in being able to deliver patient-focused insights. Mary’s wisdom is also reinforced by her previous work in large teaching hospitals that draw from a vast history of knowledge in surgery, general medicine, spinal cord injury, geriatrics, and orthopaedics.
